Empty-chair Town Hall - Miyares
Sunday, September 7, 2025
Grassroots organizations across Virginia hosted an “Empty-Chair Town Hall” on September 7 in Annandale after Attorney General Jason Miyares failed to respond to repeated invitations to attend. More than fifty Virginians came together to raise urgent questions about the rule of law, healthcare, federal firings, immigration, and civil rights—issues the Attorney General has the power to shape.
The event was co-hosted by: Defend Democracy Indivisible, Eagle Group Indivisible, Fairfax Indivisible, Falls Church Indivisible, Indivisible NOVA, Northern Virginia Indivisible, NOVA West, Indivisible Roanoke, Indivisible Turning the Tables, Burke, Network NOVA Virginia-wide, Viva La Resistance Indivisible Virginia-wide, and We of Action Virginia.
Despite Miyares’ absence, the event highlighted the determination of Virginia voters to hold their leaders accountable. The photos capture the moment—an empty chair reserved for the Attorney General and community members gathered in his absence, underscoring the importance of transparency and accountability in a democracy.
