Friday Power Lunch Flashbacks
by Katherine White, Friday Power Lunch Host
HAPPY FRIDAY!
It is November 22, 2024 and YOU are on the Friday Power Lunch Flashback! We amplify the voice of the grassroots across Virginia and the Nation, AND we make politics fun.
Today, we flashback to a few favorite shows and grassroots memories that brought joy, laughs, tears, and cheers. We have produced over 191 shows. Hundreds of guest speakers and partners. We have done so much together and will do so much more.
Enjoy the flashback! Take your time, there is much to appreciate.
Not registered yet for the Friday Power Lunch? Well, it's high time you joined the room where it happens. Register here.

Flashback with Michaell Lee Pope of POD Virginia:
Watch Michael Pope on the Friday Power Lunch on April 5, 2024 here. As we head into the VA Legislative law making season, we flashback on how the legislative sausage is made. It isn’t pretty but it is necessary to learn how to get your voice heard and bills passed.
The past is prologue:
Amanda Chase is back! She is running for SD 10 after John McGuire won the Congressional race on November 5, 2024. Travel back in time as Pope interviews former Senator Bell as he breaks down his decision to sponsor the 2021 resolution to censure then-Senator Amanda Chase after she repeated baseless election fraud claims and spoke in support of the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021. Buckle up and listen here.
As Virginia goes, so goes the nation:
While other groups are focusing on winning back the House of Representatives in 2026, there is no rest for Virginia as our state-wide election season started on November 6, 2024. Democrats have an opportunity to take back power at the state level: Governor, Attorney General, and Lieutenant Governor are up in 2025 plus all 100 House Delegate seats. (There are 7 seats ready to flip blue, the Harris 7.) Let's lead the nation!
Listen to Simon Rosenberg of Hopium Chronicles interview Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger on November 21, 2024. Spanberger (D) is on the ballot for Governor
Women’s Summit 2018: (left to right) Wendy Gooditis, Kathy Tran, Elizabeth Guzman, Jennifer Carroll Foy, Jennifer Boysko, Danica Roem, Hala Ayala, Dawn Adams, Eileen Filler-Corn, Karrie Delaney.
Women Won Big On Election Night 2017:
In 2017, we took back 15 SEATS in Virginia's House of Delegates, which moved the chamber from a 66/34 Republican majority to a 51/49 split! We would go on to flip the state legislature blue in 2019 by winning the trifecta that would secure voting rights, reproductive rights, climate progress, and criminal justice reforms.
We celebrated our victories at the Women’s Summit with the Avengers who made history in VA. Watch here as they take the stage in 2018 and here as they fire up the crowd.
Read about our 2017 victory published on Blue Virginia by Robbin Warner. The lessons learned are applicable today!
Shelly Simonds, HD70 finally wins her race in 2019
Power of one vote:
Story telling is the most powerful way to move your message. When we talk to people about the power of their vote and why every vote matters, the story of how the balance of power in the VA General Assembly rested on one vote, a bowl, and the luck of the draw.
Read about VA Delegate Shelly Simonds adventure in the 2017 historic election here. She wins this seat in 2019 (no bowl pick this time).
Grateful for everyone’s work and continued involvement. Thank you,
Katherine and the Friday Power Lunch Crew
