Next Steps in Chesterfield Dominion Gas Plant Fight
This is a concern for all Virginians!
The fight against Dominion’s proposed Chesterfield gas plant is not just about one community—it’s about the future of Virginia. At stake are our health, our pocketbooks, and our ability to transition to clean energy. Dominion’s $4.5 billion project would lock Virginians into decades of higher bills, harmful pollution, and dependence on fossil fuels at a time when affordable, reliable alternatives are within reach. What happens in Chesterfield will set the tone for energy policy across the Commonwealth: if Dominion succeeds here, it will embolden more dirty energy projects; if Virginians stop it, we prove that people—not corporations—will decide our future.
Now through Sept. 16, public comments are due to the State Corporation Commission, docket PUR-2025-00037, asking them to deny the certificate of public convenience and necessity. You can also register to speak at the SCC public hearing, which begins Sept. 23. (Registration closes Sept. 16 at 5pm) And, we are having a comment party to get you ready for testifying! We are so grateful for your continued advocacy -- and the fight continues!

And just announced, the DEQ has extended the air permit public comment period. Comments to the DEQ can be submitted through Oct. 23 and there will be another public hearing on Oct. 8th, again at the SpringHill Suites in Chester from 5-9:30pm.
