PROTECT OUR VIRGINIA COMMUNITIES FROM MASS DEPORTATION
Encourage officials not to divulge personal info or participate in ICE raids
Donald Trump’s mass deportation of immigrants is expected to begin soon after his inauguration. Some Virginia jurisdictions appear ready to comply with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but “There is no federal legal obligation for local jurisdictions to use their resources to help with immigration enforcement.”*
– Sheriffs & Police Chiefs do not have to participate in ICE raids or enforcement.
– Jurisdictions do not have to share immigrants’ personal information with ICE.
(Some VA counties and cities already have trust policies, promising to protect this information.)
